Boo! Halloween Cake

I have always wanted to do one of those so I finally did.

Start with 3 graduated boxes.
Measure the boxes.  I use a dress makers measuring tape.

Next cut your paper. I use my Gypsy to cut circles for round boxes.

It is almost impossible to get a round top exact.  You can either cut it a little larger and sand or trim it to fit or you can paint the top and side of the lid to match your paper.

Apply your paper using your preferred adhesive.  I use Mod Podge.  I spread it on the back of the paper instead of on the box itself.  I place the back piece on first then the front allowing for some over lap.  Apply the paper on the sides with the lid on and line it up to the bottom of the box.

I do not put paper under the lid because it makes it too tight.  Usually there is some gap left.

I cover this with another piece of paper or in this case ribbon.  Again the top is on the box and this time I line up my product to the edge of the lid concealing any gaps.

Here is the finished product.

Isn't it Bootiful?

A Rose by any other name...

I do not often quote Shakespeare but it fits.

Where did my blog name come from?  Seven years ago there was a LSS in town and several of us met there to crop.  As many LSS's it closed and left us with no place to crop.  About that time I moved into my husband's parents home and claimed a large space for my scraproom and crop space.  The store closed and we bought tables and started meeting at my house.  Seven years later we have been together longer than the LSS was open!

We all went to CKU and wanted a group name and thus we became  The Cherokee Croppers because the name of my road is Cherokee.  And I live in the an area of the country which is home to the Cherokee Nation's Eastern Band.  And...like a lot of us here, I am part Cherokee.  So it was a natural and probably the easiest part of creating this blog.

Trick or Treat for Charity

Each year we have a charity drive for state employees.  In my office we auction off items by using tickets earned by making donations.  This year I have made a candy box to be auctioned.  I started with a simple wooden canister.

100 Days

Well, 96 now but anyone who even remotely knows me knows that I am retiring 1/1/11.  Needless to say; of course, I have scrapped this milestone.  My kind friends have refrained from pointing out that I have an extra end in "fund" which has been corrected but not rescanned.  Oh yes, and those are 3 years of The ScrapRoom kits I plan to play with when I retire!
